Saint John Arts Centre Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Saint John Arts Centre Celebrates 10th Anniversary and National Culture Days on Saturday, September 28th.

Saturday, Sept. 28th to celebrate both Culture Days activities and SJAC’s 10th year as Greater Saint John’s

community arts centre.

Culture Days is an annually celebrated collaborative pan-Canadian volunteer movement to raise the awareness,

accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

All Culture Days activities at Saint John Arts Centre are free, appropriate for all ages, and wheelchair


Artist Herzl Kashetsky will be signing prints from his edition of etchings, the very first edition pulled from Saint

John Arts Centre’s brand new professional printmaking facility, which just hosted its first workshop this month.

Activities include musical events: at 11AM, dynamic young pianist and composer, Wen Gao presents original

piano transcriptions of Hollywood movie music and popular Asian songs. At 12:30PM, singer/songwriter and

recent Saint John Idol runner-up Sadie Donahue is joined in vocal harmony by Jerry-Faye Flatt. At 1:30PM,

Master Hammer Dulcimer player Wenmei Li performs an eclectic concert experience featuring interpretations

of traditional Chinese compositions plus western classics and folk music.

Other celebrations include free birthday cake and refreshments for visitors, and tours of the Arts Centre’s

galleries and studios.
