This report looks at Status of the Artists acts and alternative models from across Canada and the globe as a discussion piece for the Cultural Policy Renewal panel for New Brunswick and for the Minister\u2019s standing committee on the Status of the Artist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authored by: The New Brunswick Arts Board (artsnb<\/strong>) Seven years in the making, the report is the culmination of a close collaboration involving professional artists, arts organizations and several provincial government departments. The meetings involved artists of culturally diverse backgrounds, arts and culture organizations, multicultural society representatives, federal and provincial government cultural department representatives, and artsnb employees. The aim of the meetings was to provoke thoughtful discussion on a variety of issues arising in an increasingly culturally diverse province of New Brunswick, and to determine strategies to improve inclusivity of diverse cultures in the public sphere and encourage understanding and appreciation for the different cultures found throughout the province. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Authored by: The New Brunswick Arts Board (artsnb<\/strong>) Racial Equity Tools is designed to support individuals and groups working to achieve racial equity. It offers tools, research, tips, curricula, and ideas for people who want to increase their understanding and to help those working for racial justice at every level<\/strong> \u2013 in systems, organizations, communities, and the culture at large. Racial Equity Tools curate resources that use language and analysis reflecting an understanding of systemic racism, power, and privilege and are accessible on-line and free to users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fundamentals and core concepts to understand racism<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Presented by: Racial Equity Tools, several authors<\/p>\n\n\n\n This analysis includes a careful comparison of statistics on artists in New Brunswick from census years dating back to 1991. Because of many changes over time in the occupation groups that are included as cultural workers, the post does not cover that broader category. The article is made possible with the support of artsnb<\/strong> and the Government of New Brunswick. Hill Strategies Research retained editorial control of the content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Increasing number of artists in New Brunswick<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Authored by: Kelly Hill from Hill Strategies Research Inc. In the context of a program review at the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, artsnb<\/strong> arranged for an independent external assessment of the province\u2019s funding model to identify areas of strength and weakness, and opportunities for greater inter-organizational collaboration. The research study explored the substance and process of funding to the arts in New Brunswick, including what and who are funded by artsnb<\/strong> and the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, and how funding decisions are made and reported on.
