Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Q: Has the deadline for the Creation and Documentation programs been extended?<\/strong>  
    A: The April 2020 application deadline for the Creation and Documentation programs has been extended to Thursday, April 30th, 2020<\/strong>. We hope this extension will allow artists the time and flexibility to adjust to rapidly changing work and home environments, and to prepare project proposals that take into account the new realities we all face as we traverse the global COVID-19 pandemic. Assessment for these programs will be expedited so that results can be made available in mid-to-late June as usual. If you have any questions or concerns about preparing your application, or if you have already submitted an application and wish to modify it before the new April 30th deadline, please contact the Program Officer.   
     
    Please note: With this extension, Projects are not required to start after April 30th because of the extended deadline \u2013 projects can have a start date of April 2nd onwards, as usual.

  2. Q: Are there restrictions on projects for the upcoming Creation and Documentation deadline? <\/strong>  
    A: Travel-related projects must start after July 31, 2020<\/strong> in order to be eligible. We are monitoring the situation closely and may need to make additional revisions. Watch this space for updates.  
     
    Generally, the Creation and Documentation grant programs do not allow capital acquisitions. However, given the current situation, for this deadline only, we will allow up to 10% of your requested grant money to go towards capital acquisitions.  
     
    Capital acquisitions, in this case, are as follows:  
    – Acquisition of artistic equipment, technical equipment, software or peripherals necessary to advance the creation of future artistic works  
    – Capital improvements to enhance an artist\u2019s studio, rehearsal, production or presentation space

  3. Q: Has the deadline for the Career Development program been extended and are all components of the program still open? <\/strong> 
    A: The Career Development deadline remains the same, May 1, 2020. In response to the current pandemic we will be suspending the Arts by Invitation <\/strong>and Artist in Residence<\/strong> components of the Career Development program until further notice. Please stay tuned to this page for further updates.   
     
    In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and new reality, we will also be allowing some flexibility to the Professional Development (ex. Training opportunities to help transition into these new work environments) and Professionalization and Promotion (ex. Up to a year of regular website hosting) components of the program. Please contact the Program Officer if you have any questions.

  4. Q: I currently have an artsnb grant that is being affected by the pandemic. What should I do?<\/strong> 
    A: Grant recipients whose funded projects are currently being affected can contact our Program Officer to\u202fdiscuss\u202fproject changes and ask any questions you may have.\u202f

  5. Q: I have submitted an application that has not yet been assessed and part of the project has been impacted by a cancellation or has been postponed. What should I do?<\/strong> 
    A: Recent applicants\u202fwhose application has not been\u202fassessed yet\u202fare invited to contact\u202four\u202fProgram Officer if the project you\u2019ve applied for has been\u202fpostponed or\u202fcancelled\u202fin case\u202fyour application needs to\u202fbe withdrawn.

  6. Q: I am thinking of applying to an upcoming artsnb program, can I contact a staff member to discuss my project beforehand?<\/strong> 
    A: Yes, you are welcome to contact our Program Officer if you have any questions regarding project timelines or other concerns. We also encourage applicants considering applying for upcoming deadlines to keep the current\u202fsituation in mind.

  7. Q: I have received a project grant from artsnb. What happens if my artsnb-funded travel, event or activity must be postponed, changed or cancelled due to COVID-19? Will I be required to repay the grant? <\/strong> 
    A: artsnb recognizes that with the extraordinary and unforeseen nature of COVID-19, some activities or events will have to be cancelled or will no longer be able to take place. Please email our Program Officer to inform us about a project\u2019s cancellation, or to propose changes to the timing, location or format of your project. We may be able to approve extensions to your project timeline and\/or modifications to your project plans.  
     
    artsnb will allow you to retain the funds to be applied to other eligible expenses related to the project, including costs related to modifying, postponing or cancelling activities. If you are not able to spend all of the funds on eligible expenses, you will be required to repay those funds. artsnb cannot unfortunately allow you to spend those funds on activities unrelated to the approved project.  
     
    We invite you to document the impact of COVID-19 and how you propose to use those funds in your final report. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
