artsnb announces UNI Cooperation financière as the Presenting Sponsor of the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for High Achievement in the Arts

Fredericton, July 23, 2024The New Brunswick Arts Board (artsnb) is delighted to present UNI Coopération financière as the presenting sponsor of the 2024 Lieutenant-governor’s Awards for High Achievement in the Arts.

UNI Coopération financière’s 2-year commitment will support artsnb’s goal to celebrate the outstanding contribution of New Brunswick artists through the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for High Achievement in the Arts’ program.

According to Camille H. Thériault, President and CEO of UNI, nurturing our talents and stimulating the province’s cultural industry are integral to a healthy culture. “There is no denying that arts and culture contribute to local vitality. They influence our environment, our way of interpreting and perceiving things. In fact, culture is part of who we are. It’s important to believe in it and value it.”

On the night of the gala, on November 8, 2024, at Government House in Fredericton, UNI Coopération financière will present alongside artsnb and the Lieutenant-Governor, four awards for High Achievement in the arts: the Visual Arts Award, the Performing Arts Award, the Literary Arts Award and the inaugural Indigenous Artist Award.

Domenic Bro, Chair at artsnb, shares: “The 2024 Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for High Achievement in the Arts will truly be a special edition as this year marks the inaugural year of the Indigenous Artists Award. We are proud to continue developing closer relationships with the Indigenous artists practicing on this territory by celebrating their achievements with the creation of this new award category thanks to artsnb’s Circle of Elders’ guidance. We are also thrilled to continue collaborating with the Lieutenant Governor and now alongside UNI Coopération financière to celebrate the accomplishment of the 2024 laureates for High Achievement in the Arts whose names will be announced in September.”

About the awards

The Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for High Achievement in the Arts are designed to recognize the outstanding contribution of New Brunswick artists. These four awards recognize and reward artists who have distinguished themselves by the excellence of their achievements. Awards of $20,000 are conferred every two years. Funding for the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for High Achievement in the Arts is provided by the Arts Development Trust Fund and sponsors. The New Brunswick Arts Board is an arm’s length arts funding agency with a legislated mandate to facilitate and promote the creation of art as well as administering funding programs for professional artists in the province.
