The New Brunswick Arts Board is an arm’s length arts funding agency with a legislated mandate to facilitate and promote the creation of art as well as administering funding programs for professional artists in the province. artsnb is looking for a person for the position of Communications Officer.
JOB POSTING: Communications Officer, artsnb
Job Title: Communications Officer
Employer: New Brunswick Arts Board (artsnb)
Terms: Annual contract (with possibility of renewal), subject to an initial three-month probation period and annual performance evaluations
Hours: Flexible 4 days (29 hours) per week
Salary: Between $1,507 and $1,749 per period of two weeks, depending on experience,
plus competitive benefits
Languages: Excellent oral, written, and comprehension in English and French
Location: Remote and Fredericton

Education and Experience:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in communications, arts, arts administration, or a related field
- A college or university diploma in communications, in an arts and culture related field, or equivalent experience, which might include traditional knowledge, community work, and/or mentorships
- Or any other combination deemed equivalent
Roles and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Director and working collaboratively with the Programs Team, the Program Assistant will have the following roles and responsibilities:
- Activates artsnb’s online presence through social media and newsletter, and maintains the organisation’s website
- Maintains the promotion of artsnb’s programmes and initiatives
- Insures planning and documentation of events, such as the Lieutenant-Governor’s Awards, outreach initiatives, forums, etc.
- Creates content (visual and audiovisual) in English and French for web and social media
- Collaborates with a designer for the creation of artsnb promotional content (brochures, posters) and assists with the preparation of the Annual Report
- Keeps an eye out for news affecting the artistic community in NB, and brings these to the attention of artsnb’s various audiences via a range of media channels
- Plays a role in managing public, media and government relations for the organisation, with the Executive Director
- Supports artsnb in its efforts to attract private funding for special programs and awards
- Translates internal documents, from English to French and vice versa
- Any other related tasks.
Required Qualifications:
- An ability to work independently and in a team
- Outstanding time management and customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- A facility with Microsoft Suite, online technology and virtual communication tools
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Knowledge of WordPress, CyberImpact and Canva, and aptitudes in graphic design are considered assets
