The New Brunswick Arts Board is an arm’s length arts funding agency with a legislated mandate to facilitate and promote the creation of art as well as administering funding programs for professional artists in the province.
Fredericton, December 3, 2024 – During its Annual Meeting held in Fredericton, the New Brunswick Arts Board (artsnb) elected Darren McLeod (Saint John) as its new Chair. He succeeds Domenic Bro, who served in this role during the previous year.
Jason Guerrette (Edmundston) becomes artsnb’s 1st Vice-Chair, Phyllis Grant (Oinpegitjoig First Nation), 2nd Vice-chair, and Jalianne Li (Moncton), Treasurer. Domenic Bro (Tracadie), outgoing Chair, and Vanessa Moeller (Moncton), outgoing Treasurer, remain on the Executive and finance committee as members at large.
The rest of the Board is comprised of members César Suárez, Ysabelle Vautour, Jennifer Bélanger, Jean-Pierre Caissie (Executive director, artsnb, ex-officio), and Lori-Jean Wallace (Director of Arts and Culture, Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, ex-officio). artsnb’s new Chair Darren McLeod lives in Saint John where he serves as a senior development and fundraising professional at the University of New Brunswick. He has broad experience in development, fundraising, communication, marketing, and stakeholder engagement for the not-for-profit sector. He has previously worked in health education, healthcare, and arts and cultural sectors in fundraising/development leadership roles. His voluntary board work in the province has included AIDS New Brunswick and the City of Saint John Community Arts Board which he served on for six years with three of them in the chair position. He is a passionate supporter of the arts and culture and has worked diligently to bridge the culture of philanthropy and the creative communities in the province.
