The New Brunswick Arts Board is an arm’s length arts funding agency with a legislated mandate to facilitate and promote the creation of art as well as administering funding programs for professional artists in the province.
artsnb is pleased to invite artists, cultural workers, and the general public to a FREE online lunch time presentation on Tuesday September 26, 2023* from 12 – 1 pm, about Indigenous traditional knowledge, cultural expressions, and cultural appropriation.

Paryse Suddith is of African-American, Cherokee and Acadian descent (protagonist of the documentary Une rivière métissée | ICI TOU.TV). She has a passion for restorative justice and for appreciating diversity. A lawyer, she founded the charitable organization Les Productions et Services juridiques de la Vieille Rivière Inc. which helps First Nations and local communities, government and academic institutions preserve, protect and promote traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions.
In her capacity as Senior Policy Analyst – Traditional Knowledge, Paryse was also the head of the New Zealand delegation to the World Intellectual Property Organization, Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (“WIPO IGC”). The WIPO IGC is composed of 185 Member States and is mandated to develop an international legal instrument (or instruments) which will ensure the effective protection of genetic resources, traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions.
