The New Brunswick Arts Board is an arm’s length arts funding agency with a legislated mandate to facilitate and promote the creation of art as well as administering funding programs for professional artists in the province.
With the start of September, I am always reminded of lunch boxes, fresh pencils and notebooks, and that sense that something new and exciting is beginning. This year, I am enjoying a new beginning again, just as fall arrives in beautiful New Brunswick. I am very excited to be joining the artsnb team! As Programs Officer, I look forward to engaging every day with New Brunswick artists & organizations and helping them to access resources. It will be a pleasure to learn about the wonderful creative projects that are happening throughout this province and I am sure that this position will provide me with a unique lens through which to discover the wealth of creativity in NB. In my previous position as Project Manager of the New Brunswick Crafts Council, I was able to familiarize myself with the craft that is currently being produced in New Brunswick; my favorite part of working at the NBCC was being able to communicate with artists every day. As a photographer, writer and performance artist myself, I am happy to be able to contribute to the arts community and help in some small way to make excellent art happen. Artists contribute so much to our economic and social well-being and I believe that art is a powerful tool of expression, reconciliation, exploration, and communication that strengthens communities and identities. artsnb seems like a very positive work environment and I am thrilled to be welcomed into the fold.
