Large Increase in Grant Funding to Artists in 2020-2021

Fredericton, April 16th, 2020 – The maelstrom created by the COVID-19 pandemic has eclipsed recent news that the government of New Brunswick increased grant funding to artsnb in its 2020-2021 budget by $500,000. This fulfills in large part a major goal that artsnb had fixed for itself in its 2018-2021 strategic plan.

Consequently, artsnb is pleased to announce that for the first time in its 30-year history, it plans to deliver well over one million dollars ($1,000,000) in grants through its regular programs. This increase is effective immediately, which means that it will benefit a larger number of New Brunswick artists not only throughout the year, but also right now during the COVID-19 crisis.

Professional artists from all disciplines are urged to apply as soon as possible to the upcoming Creation and Documentation competitions (new deadline April 30th) and to the Career Development competition (deadline May 1st). Note that some restrictions currently apply due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. For more details or to submit a grant application, please visit the artsnb website (artsnb.ca).

The board and staff of artsnb wish to thank the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture for their collaboration in helping secure this large increase in grant funding for the benefit of the professional artists of New Brunswick.
