Dyane Léger

A poet rooted in the land of Acadia, Dyane Léger explores the landscapes that are the legacy of her ancestors. Lover of books, woods, animals, and humans who walk on the earth without leaving marks, she prefers to live in the circle of friendship and in the company of the sacred. In her burrow, she continues her tireless learning of the alphabet and beauty. Resistance, boldness, courage, and freedom all have the same meaning for her.  

Always alert to the natural world and the spirits that inhabit it, Dyane receives her inspiration from daily moments, both beautiful and banal, such as flickering fireflies, twirling hummingbirds, and flowers that all open at the same time as if by magic. She strives to capture the human experience and create moments of deep connection through words on paper.  

Dyane’s rigorous approach, her deep passion for Acadian language, and her bold creative endeavours over the years have made her an essential figure in the Canadian francophone artistic community. 

The first Acadian woman to be published in Acadie, her first collection of poems, Graines de fées, was the inaugural work published by Éditions Perce-Neige (1980). A major figure in contemporary Acadian literature and a winner of the prestigious Prix France-Acadie, Dyane Léger recently published her sixth collection of poetry and her ninth book, Mayday. 

She lives and work in Notre Dame, NB.
