artsnb survey: Strategic planning for 2028-2033
Hello artists, arts workers, members of the public, community leaders, and partners,
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire team, I am delighted to invite you to take part in the New Brunswick Arts Board’s (artsnb) 2028–2033 strategic planning exercise by completing the artsnb Survey – Strategic Planning 2028–2033.
In the midst of the pandemic, many of you shared your ideas and feedback to ensure that the 2022–2027 strategic plan,A New Beginning, could offer approaches and solutions to the pressing challenges facing the arts and cultural industries sector.
In summary, A New Beginning set out the following key objectives: to increase engagement and participation; to improve understanding of the arts through data and reporting; and to secure access to funding and resources for a growing number of professional artists in New Brunswick.
Here are some of the steps we have taken to make some progress towards these objectives:
- The implementation of a voluntary self-identification tool to better understand the profile of artists who apply for and receive funding under the programs;
- A thorough review of artsnb’s funding programs following consultation with partners and artists, and the regular publication of more detailed information on program results;
- Working with successive governments to secure new investments in artsnb’s programs, notably through an increase in the Arts Development Trust Fund;
- Managing the remodeled revamped Operational Support program for arts organizations (production/presentation, service-based, and community cultural centres);
- Participating in the implementation of the recommendations from the Premier’s Task Force on the Status of the Artist, celebrating the adoption of the Status of the Artist Act, and securing new investment for the Artist in Residence program (for artists and organizations).
With these achievements in mind, and recognizing the work that remains to be done, we are undertaking a strategic planning exercise to set artsnb on a course for the future, addressing the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Since its founding in 1990, artsnb has managed funding programs and collaborated with a network of dynamic partners to sustain a diverse and sustainable arts ecosystem that thrives throughout New Brunswick.
By completing the survey, you will help shape the vision for artsnb in 2033. Thank you for participating to our strategic planning process and for contributing to the arts sector in New Brunswick.
