The New Brunswick Arts Board is an arm’s length arts funding agency with a legislated mandate to facilitate and promote the creation of art as well as administering funding programs for professional artists in the province.
Fredericton, August 7, 2024 – The New Brunswick Arts Board (artsnb) is pleased to announce new maximum amounts for its grant funding programs.
A fruitful collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture has resulted in a $1.5 million increase to artsnbprograms through the Arts Development Trust Fund, as announced in the most recent provincial budget. artsnb is delighted to communicate how this investment will be reflected in its funding programs to further support the practices of New Brunswick’s professional artists.

Effective immediately, artists are eligible to apply for the new maximum amounts for grants in the Arts Infrastructure, Career Development, Creation, Documentation, Equinox for Indigenous Artists, and Accessibility and Equity programs. The new amounts are as follows:

artsnb and the Arts Development Trust Fund
The New Brunswick Arts Board utilizes an allocated portion of the Arts Development Trust Fund/Fonds en fiducie pour l’avancement des arts to facilitate and promote the creation of art as well as administer funding programs for professional artists in the province. The entire amount received from the Arts Development Trust Fund is spent through artsnb’s grant programs to artists.
The investments to artsnb’s programs from this fund, provided by re-investments from the province’s lottery revenues, started at a variable amount of $364,000 in 1990, were made stable at $400,000 in 1992, jumped to $700,000 in 1998, increased to $1,200,000 in 2021, to finally reach today’s allocation of $2,700,000. Investments to artsnb’s programs from the Arts Development Trust Fund Act are secured through the New Brunswick Regulation 2008-110 under the Gaming Control Act.

Funding for these programs is provided through the province’s Arts Development Trust Fund and by the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture. The department also provides additional funding to the Artist in Residence program, as a response to the recommendations from the report of Premier’s Task Force on the Status of the Artist.
