Welcome to the new artsnb blog!

Welcome to the new artsnb blog!

Why start a blog?

We’ve been talking about starting a blog for artsnb for quite some time, ever since we updated our website in the summer of 2012. I recently opened the blog policy document I started writing for staff and it was dated February 2013. Needless to say, it has been in the works for a long time.

With the update to our website, which allowed for easier access to information about our programs, we decided to take it one step further and blog about who we are, what we do, and where we are going.

Although the main mandate of artsnb is to fund professional artists, we do spend time on various outreach initiatives and occasionally the artsnb staff attends workshops or personal development conferences to help us do the work we do every day. As many of you already probably know, the artsnb staff also attends art events whenever possible to keep up-to-date on artistic work being made around the province. If you see one of us at one of your art events, please come say hello!

We know from speaking with several artists from around the province, especially those in more rural areas, that there can be a sense of isolation and disconnect with other art practices and what is happening in different communities. Hopefully this blog will help bridge those gaps a bit and be a place to discuss topics related to art in New Brunswick, in Canada, and beyond.

The blog will likely change and evolve as we roll up our collective sleeves and get into the world of blogging. We hope that we will give you, our readers, a sense of the work we do for the artists in the province of New Brunswick and the partnerships we foster in order to widen the spectrum of opportunities available to New Brunswick artists.

Who will be blogging?

artsnb staff will be taking turns with blog posts. Each week a staff member will write about their position within the organization, different projects that they are working on, events they attend, or any other potential topic that comes to mind. Do you want to know more about our staff to prepare yourself for their posts? You can read all about them here. We will also occasionally have guest bloggers from board members and our partners.

Questions? Comments? Blog topic requests? Please feel free to send us an email!
