Carol Collicutt

Carol Collicutt has been a professional artist in New Brunswick for over 40 years, primarily expressing herself through painting, sculpture, installation, and photography. 

Carol uses found objects as well as collage, metal, photographs, marble dust on surfaces such as panel, paper, mylar and canvas. The possibilities of the combination of materials are what keeps her constantly engaged and immersed in the work. 

A notably prolific artist, Carol is known for bodies of work that showcase the ever-evolving facets of her artistic practice: including her large-scale photographs, her journal series using layered text and imagery to represent her inner thoughts, and her large photographs of her own eye, exploring the depths of memories.

Carol has spent many years supporting the arts sector in New Brunswick, including as president and board member of Gallery Connexion, an artist-run center in Fredericton and as the Chair of artsnb.  

In 2024 she was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for excellence in the arts, and in 2025 the Sheila Hugh Mackay Arts Advocacy Award. 

“I like to change and I like to explore how I feel about things which is mostly an autobiographical reaction to things that I think about all the time. But mostly it comes from inside… I can’t pinpoint an external impetus for my work. “
